Information Overview

​

Eligible job seekers or other benefit receivers can sign up for our 3 day BSI/QBA Barista School Ireland / Qualified Barista Award + HACCP L1 and have the course costs covered by the Dept. of Social Protection. This comprehensive course trains you in coffee and gives you the tools you need to become a professional Barista.

Purpose

​

This scheme is designed to fund quick access to short term training or related interventions, obtain/renew certification/permits for individual jobseekers that have identified work opportunities or where Case Officers have identified an immediate skills gap that represents an obstacle to taking up a job offer or accessing other activation

interventions.

Eligible Payments

​

The primary focus of this scheme is on jobseekers and on supporting the activation policy of the Department of social protection.

​

  • Jobseeker's Allowance and Jobseekers Transition (incl. Casuals)

  • Jobseeker's Benefit (incl. Casuals)

​

Other Eligible Payments/Schemes

  • One Parent Family Payment

  • Signing for credits

  • Blind Pension

  • Deserted Wife's Benefit (DWB)

  • Farm/Fish Assist (FA)

  • Disability Allowance

  • Widows/Widowers Contributory or Non-Contributory Pension

  • Illness Benefit for 6 months or more

  • Qualified Adults of Jobseekers payment, who are job seeking.

Case officers may also support jobseekers who are participating on one of the Department's funded work placement programmes – as set out below – or where a person on another DSP payment, not listed above other than State pension, have an identified work/activation opportunity.

This is our most comprehensive course.   Total novice to someone already working in specialty coffee or who has a desire to work in specialty coffee, who employs supervisors, baristas or just has an interest in coffee. You will learn right from the beginning what it takes to become a professional barista. We will give you the tools and support you need to keep progressing forward.

3.POST THE FORM TO OURSELVES (Don't forget to sign)

4.LET US LOOK AFTER THE REST

​

  • We fully complete and return the form to The Department of Social Protection

  • Once assessed by them, you should receive a decision on your application within a week.

  • If  approved, you will be issued with an Approval letter from The Department for the course
